Fully Licensed Private Function Venue
Unlike any other venue in the region, The Mudcastle is the everyday home of Kevin and Glenys Johnston and is opened for private functions by arrangement. This lends a unique quality to the ambience, widely commented on by guests.
Although trained in fully licensed, silver service restaurants such as The Coachman, Orsinis and Plimmer House, Glenys went on to own and run Glossops Eaterie, a BYO casual dining restaurant in Wellington in the 1980s. In many ways The Mudcastle provides the opportunity for these two hospitality styles to merge in a unique format - formal events and informal private functions hosted in a fully licensed venue but with the special friendliness only a home environment can evoke.
Per person function charges include the exclusive hire of the venue and grounds, full set up and dismantling of the dining room as required and co-hosting with you by the owners themselves to ensure that your guests are looked after and that everything runs smoothly.
With years of experience in catering and venue decorating via another previous business Creative Occasions, Glenys and Kevin know how to bring that memorable magic touch to an event.
Part of the secret lies in seeing the potential of the country setting, part in having the vision to build such a unique home and part in being prepared to share this personal achievement with those who have asked them to.
